Tyler Childers shared a cover of John Prine’s “Yes I Guess They Oughta Name A Drink After You.” Childers’ rendition of the song will appear on the Prine tribute record, Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine, Vol. 2, due out on October 8 via the Prine co-founded Oh Boy Records.
Childers’ contribution to Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows follows Brandi Carlile’s version of “I Remember Everything” — the Grammy-winning final song John recorded before his death on April 7, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 — as well as Sturgill Simpson’s rendition of the Prine classic “Paradise.” Proceeds from Tyler’s “Yes I Guess They Oughta Name A Drink After You,” originally appearing on the 1972 album Diamonds In The Rough, will benefit the Childers co-founded The Hickman Holler Appalachian Relief Fund.
