Bob Dylan Dusts Off ‘Every Grain Of Sand’ In Cleveland

Bob Dylan continued his 2021 Fall Tour at KeyBank State Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday. The legendary singer-songwriter dusted off “Every Grain OF Sand” to close out the Cleveland stop.

As he’s done with his first two concerts of the tour, Bob Dylan and his band — bassist Tony Garnier, drummer Charley Drayton, multi-instrumentalist Donnie Herron and guitarists Bob Britt and Doug Lancio — got things underway with “Watching The River Flow” followed by the Blonde On Blonde cut “Most Likely You Go Your Way and I’ll Go Mine.” Bob then got to material from his 2020 album Rough And Rowdy Ways with “I Contain Multitudes” and “False Prophet.” Although he placed “Simple Twist Of Fate” in the fifth spot for the tour opener in Milwaukee, Dylan did “When I Paint My Masterpiece” in Chicago and did the same in Cleveland.

Bob then sandwiched the John Wesley Harding classic “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” between Rowdy Ways tracks “Black Rider” and “My Own Version Of You.” The Nashville Skyline cut “To Be Alone With You” came next followed by Tempest’s “Early Roman Kings.” Dylan picked back up on Rowdy Ways with “Key West (Philosopher Pirate),” which featured apt accordion from Donnie Herron, ahead of the stellar Slow Train Coming track “Gotta Serve Somebody.”

Rowdy Ways’ “I’ve Made Up My Mind To Give Myself To You” then prefaced the Frank Sinatra popularized “Melancholy Mood,” which Bob included on his 2016 Fallen Angels album. The final Rowdy Ways offerings came in the form of “Mother Of Muses” and “Goodbye Jimmy Reed.” Dylan then closed out the evening with “Every Grain Of Sand.” Bob last performed the Shot Of Love closer nearly eight years ago to the day on November 6, 2013 in Rome, as per Bob Dylan.com.
