Ghost-Note will reprise its guest-filled tribute to the late, great Prince at New York’s Sony Hall on Thursday, December 30th. The late-night show in Manhattan’s Theater District will take place following the second night of Phish‘s 2021 New Year’s Run at Madison Square Garden just a few blocks away [get tickets].
Between bassist MonoNeon, saxophonist Sylvester Onyejiaka, and keyboardist Dominique Xavier Taplin—all former Prince collaborators—the Purple One’s musical pedigree is always well-represented with Ghost-Note. For this Ghost-Note & Friends Play Prince blowout, the renowned funk-fusion outfit led by percussionists Nate Werth and Robert Sput Searight will dive headfirst into the beloved Prince catalog to help NYC party like it’s (almost) 2022.
Special guests set to join Ghost-Note for this high-energy tribute include STOUT, the mesmerizing vocalist known for her collabs with everyone from Childish Gambino to Cory Henry; Louis Cato, the multi-talented musician and mainstay of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s house band; and effusive Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter J. Hoard.
This will mark the second time that Ghost-Note has hosted a Purple dance party in NYC during Phish’s New Year’s run. The 2019 edition of the all-star tribute featured a surprise sit-in from guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, among numerous other highlights.
