Before No Time to Die’s Ana de Armas and Lashana Lynch, Halle Berry played Bond girl Agent Jinx in 2002’s Die Another Day. And nearly 20 years later, the 55-year-old actress is reflecting on the unforgettable orange bikini she wore in the Pierce Brosnan-led 007 installment.
“We tried on so many bathing suits,” she revealed in a new Vogue interview cited by the New York Post. “So many bikinis and so many belts.”
Berry mad the ensemble—a two-piece paired and a white belt with a sheathed knife—look “effortless” to viewers. But she and the production crew were acutely aware of the potential to make a long-lasting impression because of the movie’s high-profile status.
“We had a knowing that it would maybe, because it was in a Bond movie, become an iconic situation … something that would live a very, very long time,” she said.
While wardrobe selection was grueling in its own right, actually shooting the scene in frigid temperatures proved to be more trying.
“The biggest acting challenge I had was to make it look like the water was warm and I was having a grand old time when I was freezing my butt off,” she revealed.
But as Berry said in a recent Instagram post, “If it requires a bikini, my answer is always yes please!”
