Keller Williams & Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer Join Twiddle At Capitol Theatre

116

Twiddle kicked off their two-night “Frendsgiving” run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Friday. The Vermont-based quartet welcomed opener Keller Williams as well as guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer during last night’s concert.

Twiddle got the show underway with expansive excursions on staple originals “Zazu’s Flight” and “Doinkinboink!!!” each clocking in at over 17 minutes. The latter would also encompass a cover of Primus’ “Too Many Puppies” before a “Doinkinboink!!!” reprise.

The freshly debuted song “Keep Moving,” which the band unveiled on their 2021 Fall Tour stop in San Diego, came next ahead of “Amydst The Myst.” Keller then emerged to lead Twiddle through his classic collaboration with The String Cheese Incident, “Best Feeling,” on acoustic guitar and lead vocals to close out the first set.

Twiddle launched the second set with “Apples” which segued into “Every Soul” before returning to “Apples” to cap off the set opening segment. “River Drift” then prefaced a nearly 16-minute “The Box” ahead of “Slippin’ In The Kitchen.”

Next, keyboardist Ryan Dempsey delivered the piano intro to “Lost In The Cold,” as guitarist Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer — who has shared the stage with Twiddle a number of times in the past — emerged and tore up the middle jam section. Twiddle guitarist Mihali Savoulidis then brought the song and set home.

Brandon wasn’t done yet though as he rejoined the band to shred “All Along The Watchtower” for the encore. Although written by Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix released the definitive version of “Watchtower” in 1968. Twiddle and Niederauer’s Cap rendition came on the eve of what would have been Jimi’s 79th birthday.
