Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Dopapod each debuted moe. covers at their respective concerts on Tuesday in tribute to moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey who recently suffered a stroke. Additionally, moe. bassist Rob Derhak shared an update on his bandmate’s health.
Chuck was hospitalized after suffering a stroke at his home on Saturday. moe. announced the news on Tuesday with word Garvey was in stable condition. Derhak took to social media today to address the outpouring of love sent Garvey’s way and noted, “I saw very positive and impressive progress yesterday.”

The outpouring of healing vibes sent to Chuck has been inspiring, thank you all for the love. I know how much all of you care and how worried many of you are. I’d like to let you all know that he is currently getting the best care possible, and is in incredibly capable hands. Although he has a long road ahead of him, he is a very strong and determined dude. I saw very positive and impressive progress yesterday, so keep the positive healing vibes in the ether, and continue sending your love. And please keep in mind his family’s privacy.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed at Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa last night. The Baltimore-based jam quartet kicked off their second set with a debut cover of moe.’s “Not Coming Down.” PPPP shared a brief clip as an Instagram Story with a caption wishing Garvey a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, Dopapod continued their fall tour at the Waiting Room in Omaha, Nebraska. The four-piece band fit the moe. instrumental “Wormwood” into their concert. “Wormwood” is the title track of moe.’s 2003 album that also includes “Not Coming Down.” Both Dopapod and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong have opened for moe. in the past.
