Robert Plant, Alison Krauss Share Final Album Preview, “It Don’t Bother Me” [Listen]

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have shared a powerful new folk-rock single, “It Don’t Bother Me”, set to appear on their forthcoming album, Raise The Roof. Marking the duo’s first new album in 14 years, Raise The Roof, will arrive on November 19th via Rounder Records.

“It Don’t Bother Me” followed the release of “High and Lonesome” earlier this month and August’s cover of Randy Weeks and Lucinda Williams‘ “Can’t Let Go”. Produced by T Bone BurnettRaise The Roof reflects Plant and Krauss’ deep-rooted influences in addition to the recent revelations that continue to inspire them.

A reimagination of the title track to Bert Jansch‘s 1965 sophomore album, “It Don’t Bother Me” takes on new life when compared with the solo acoustic composition of the original. Their cover materialized with the addition of dolceola and marxophone from Jeff Taylor, Russell Pahl‘s pedal steel, handclaps and percussion from Jay Bellerose, bass from Viktor Krauss, and stellar interplaying guitars from Marc Ribot and Los Lobos‘ David Hidalgo.

The empowering arrangement led by Krauss surfaced teeming with energy. From the guitars that build tension during the opening lines to the thunderous entrance of the percussion, the instrumentation offers a steadily building wall of sound that Krauss’ lead and Plant’s backing vocals sit perfectly atop. A truly captivating song from beginning to end, “It Don’t Bother Me” highlights the duo’s penchant for making a cover their own.

“I’ve been a big follower of Bert Jansch’s work since I was a teenager, and of that whole Irish, Scottish, English folk style that has a different lilt and different lyrical perspective,” said Plant in a press release. “I was very keen to bring some of that into the picture.”

Krauss added, “One of my favorite parts of this is the songs and songwriters that I had never heard of. Working with Robert, and with T Bone, is always a great education in music history.”
