Arizona’s Ak-Chin Pavilion has been home to several remarkable concert experiences over the last two weeks. Back on October 22nd, Phish returned to The Grand Canyon State for the first time in 18 years with a show at the Phoenix amphitheater. Just three days later, Dead & Company settled in at Ak-Chin with Bill Kreutzmann behind the kit after missing four shows due to a non-Covid related illness.

While Phish and Dead & Company certainly hosted stellar shows at Ak-Chin, none were as “fire”—like the kids say—as the Slipknot Knotfest Roadshow stop on Tuesday night. Toward the end of Slipknot’s headlining performance, fans started a bonfire on the lawn just past the covered seats of the pavilion.

According to a note on setlist.fm, the bonfire began raging during “All Out Life”, a single the mask-wearing metal heads released back in 2018. The band did not immediately stop the performance, however, after finishing the song concert organizers paused the festivities while firefighters put out the blaze. Slipknot returned to the stage for a three-song encore but was forced to cut “Duality” and “Spit It Out” from the setlist.

Videos that have since surfaced on YouTube and Twitter depict fans throwing garbage and lawn chairs onto the blaze while, of course, dancing circle-pit-style around the fiery spectacle. Check out some videos of the Slipknot fire at Ak-Chin Pavilion on Tuesday night below.

The band will continue its Knotfest Roadshow tour on Friday, November 5th, with a (hopefully not as lit) performance at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. Head here for more information and additional tour details.
