The Disco Biscuits Bust Out ‘Step Inside’ At The Caverns

89

The Disco Biscuits opened a three-show run at The Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee on Friday. The band began the concert with their first performance of their original “Step Inside” in 11 years.

Keyboardist Aron Magner led his bandmates through the show-opening bust out. “Step Inside” was last played on March 15, 2010, the rarity going more than 400 shows between setlist appearances. Given their underground location, another aptly chosen song, “The Tunnel,” trailed the unexpected opener. The surroundings were again connected as tDB followed with “Caves Of The East,” which incorporated samples of DMX’s “Party Up (Up in Here)” and elements of Prince’s “Purple Rain” before segueing into “Basis For A Day.” Leaving “Basis” unfinished, the set wrapped with a transition into “Story Of The World.”

“Little Shimmy in a Conga Line” kicked off Friday’s second set. Bisco seamlessly moved into “M1” and “House Dog Party Favor,” leaving the latter incomplete before cycling back to finish “Little Shimmy in a Conga Line.” Fans were then treated to another rarity in the form of J.J. Cale’s “After Midnight,” which had only been covered once in 2015 and a few more times in 2018. The second set closed with a completion of the first set’s “Basis For A Day.”
