The Slip’s last public headlining concerts took place in 2011 (the same year Brad and Andrew released the first The Barr Brothers album). Since then, the trio that includes Brad’s brother Andrew Barr on drums and Marc Friedman on bass has performed sporadically, including appearances at High Sierra Music Festival and at JamBase’s 20th anniversary private party in 2019. The Slip recently came together to play sets at LOCKN’ Farm as part of a mini-festival headlined by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead.

Brad talked about how the positive experience reuniting for the JamBase 20th anniversary party helped inspire the band to go out on tour again. Barr also described the experience at LOCKN’ Farm, which was plagued by bad weather but still managed to see three sets by The Slip. Prompted by Onigman, Barr discussed the possibility of songs from The Barr Brothers catalog crossing over to The Slip on the upcoming tour, specifically some songs that began with The Slip but ended up being recorded by The Barr Brothers.

    The Slip confirmed a six-date tour of the Northeast slated for November.


The interview touched on a The Slip recording session held three or four years ago in Montreal with engineer Steve Albini that the band is working on finishing for release.
