The Slip Welcomes Stuart Bogie In Brooklyn

208

The Slip was joined by Stuart Bogie for portions of their Thursday night concert at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City. Bogie played tenor saxophone on four songs during the trio’s first of two nights at the original Brooklyn Bowl.

The group featuring guitarist Brad Barr, drummer Andrew Barr and bassist Marc Friedman opened last night’s show with “Landing” off 2002’s Angels Come On Time. A spacey conclusion to the song led into “Even Rats” from the trio’s acclaimed 2006 LP, Eisenhower. The three-piece then performed their new single “Superterranian Onlyness,” which was debuted live in Providence last Friday night.

Next, Does standout “The Invocation” bled into “Yellow Medicine.” Bogie emerged to add sax to both “Yellow Medicine” and “The Weight Of Solomon” that followed. The two-song segment was nearly 25 minutes. From there, The Slip paired “Motherwolf” and “Chasing Rabbits.” The haunting “Through The Iron Gate” then gave way to “I Hate Love.” Stuart Bogie returned for “I Hate Love” and the set-closing “Jumby.” The Slip went it alone to end the night with a “Sometimes True To Nothing” encore.

The trio returns to Brooklyn Bowl tonight. Up first for The Slip is a livestream performance at Relix Studio. Tune in via Relix’s Twitch at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT today to watch. Check out a few clips from last night’s concert below:
