The String Cheese Incident has shared “Hi Ho No Show”, the latest studio recording to come out of the SCI Sound Lab. This new single release arrives on the heels of the band announcing support for its three-night Fansgiving run over Thanksgiving weekend at Denver, CO’s Mission Ballroom.

While this occasion marks the first studio recording of the track, the song has been in the band’s live rotation dating back to 2016. Coming in with a 6:29 runtime, “Hi Ho No Show” opens with a high-energy explosion of fiddle, drums, and acoustic guitar that fully epitomizes the classic sound of The String Cheese Incident.

The all-instrumental track eventually descends into full-on dance territory as Michael Kang‘s fiddle gives way to Kyle Hollingsworth‘s synthesizer and Jason Hann‘s percussive instincts elevate prominently atop the mix. This segment injects a psychedelic twist before Kang’s fiddle returns to bring the song home with the more traditional Celtic and Americana sounds.

“We are super excited to be releasing a new track from the Lab. This one has been in the live rotation for a little bit now, but it’s always fun to dig a bit deeper with a studio release,” said Hollingsworth in a press release. “Influenced by Afro Celt Sound System, this song has tinges of Celtic and Americana roots. I love the flow of this one, it has nice sonic landscapes plus a great groove!!”

In other SCI news, the band recently announced support for its three-night Fansgiving shows at Denver’s Mission Ballroom. On Wednesday, November 24th, the six-piece outfit will host an “Acoustic Barn Burner Incident” featuring Chris Pandolfi and Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters.

“We’re really psyched to break it down to the nitty gritty with our friends from The Infamous Stringdusters,” said Nershi. “It’s a great opportunity to get back to the rootsy sound of our earlier years. We’ll even be able to hear Kyle on acoustic piano and Keith on the upright bass. Yeeeehaaaa!!!”

Then on Thanksgiving night, November 24th, the band will feature saxophonist Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic), ahead of a fan-voted setlist performance on Friday.

“We’re super excited to have our brother of many years and many jams, Dominic Lalli, from Big Gigantic, joining us for Friday night.” added Michael Travis, “Hopefully we can surprise you with the deep jams featuring Dom on sax and other tricks!”

Tickets for all three shows at Denver’s Mission Ballroom are on sale now. Head here for more information and additional tour dates.
