Watch Pavement Perform At 2010 Roskilde Festival

86

In 2010, highly influential rock band Pavement delighted fans by announcing they would reunite for the first time in a decade. The tour would take them around the world including a slot at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival. In honor of the band once again announcing a reunion tour, JamBase takes a look at Pavement’s performance at Roskilde Festival in 2010 for this edition of Sunday Cinema.

Pavement — guitarists Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg, drummer Steve West, percussionist Bob Nastanovich and bassist Mark Ibold — would fill their 20-song festival set with tracks from throughout their five album output beginning with two tunes from 1994’s Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain in “Cut Your Hair” and “Silence Kid.” The band also delivered Crooked Rain’s “Gold Soundz” and “Range Life,” all told the set clocked six songs from the LP.

Another record Pavement drew heavily from was their critically acclaimed 1992 debut album, Slanted And Enchanted, including “In The Mouth A Desert” “Summer Babe” and set closer “Here,” among others. The rockers would round out their set with songs from their additional albums including Brighten The Corners’ (1997) “Starlings In The Slipstream,” “Shady Lane” and “Stereo.” Pavement represented their 1995 LP Wowee Zowee with “Grounded” and “Kennel Street” while the band also played “Spit On A Stranger” from the final album they’ve released so far, 1999’s Terror Twilight.
