Carlos Santana canceled Santana‘s December shows at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas while he recovers from an “unscheduled heart procedure.” The legendary guitarist is expected to recover in time to resume the An Intimate Evening With Santana: Greatest Hits Live residency next month.

“Last Saturday I had an incident where I asked my wife Cindy to take me to the hospital because I had this thing happening in chest,” Carlos explained in a video message. “So when we went there, we found out that I needed to take care of it, so I am. So, I’m going to be taking time out for a little bit to make sure I replenish and I rest and I catch up with my health so that when I play for you, I will play the way I’m used to and give you 150%.”

Santana was supposed to perform in Sin City on December 1, 3 – 5, 8 and 10 – 12. The next show is scheduled for January 26. The band’s residency is currently slated to run through May 29.

“Carlos is doing fantastic and is anxious to be back on stage soon,” stated Michael Vrionis, President, Universal Tone Management. “He profoundly regrets that this ‘speed bump’ necessitated the cancellation of his upcoming performances. He is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”
