Consider The Source Releases Acoustic/Electric Album ‘Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule’ [Audio/Video]

Consider the Source on Friday released its acoustic/electric album, Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule. The ten-track LP hears the sci-fi power trio exploring its sphere of world influences with a unique blend of acoustic and electric instruments.

Along with the album, CtS shared a live video of Such As A Mule‘s closing track, “Objects In Motion, Objects At Rest”. Recorded live at 5 Points Music Sanctuary in Roanoke, VA, the video comes from an album release livestream concert the band aired on Wednesday.

“The first half of this song is based on Turkish Folk Music with the rhythm in 7 and features Baritone Uke, Dede Saz, Doumbek and Electric Bass,” the band said of the song in a statement. “A layered drum break and bass solo usher in the second half which maintains the time signature but changes to a Balkan feel but with a  Central Asian twist on a Karakalpak Dutar with the Banjo Bass and Drum Set. A true hybrid consisting of Ethnic, Tribal, Acoustic & World Music.”

On Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule, Consider the Source seamlessly transitions between elements, making the group’s already layered sound even thicker. The gradual momentum build-ups on the opening “I Am Inevitable” and the following “Rock, Flag & Eagle” ultimately steamroll into an all-out frenzy of instrumentation. The album ebbs and flows with the rising tides of Eastern traditions, allowing CtS to explore the more delicate sides of its sounds, while still leaving room for heavier elements.
