PHOTOS: The Capitol Sessions Pays Tribute To Rock N’ Roll Royalty At The Capitol Theatre

On Friday, December 17th, an all-star cast of musicians gathered at Port Chester, NY’s The Capitol Theatre for The Capitol Sessions: Songs from a Rock Palace That Impacted the World. The one-off event saw an eclectic lineup pay homage to the iconic New York venue and the royalty that graced its stage during rock n’ roll’s heyday.

Two of the defining artists of that era headlined the all-star jam: singer, songwriter, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jackson Browne, as well as Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna guitarist/frontman Jorma Kaukonen.

Joining the headliners were Marco BeneventoJames Casey (Trey Anastasio Band), Lisa Fischer (Luther Vandross, The Rolling Stones), Amy Helm (Levon Helm), Connor Kennedy (Steely Dan, Amy Helm), Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce), Tony Leone (Levon Helm, Chris Robinson Brotherhood), Grahame Lesh (Phil Lesh & Friends), Adam Minkoff (Zappa Plays Zappa, The Machine), Karina Rykman, and The War & Treaty. Furthermore, producer, arranger, songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell curated the event alongside his musical partner and wife Teresa Williams.

The musicians on hand paid tribute to the likes of Janis Joplin, Grateful DeadBonnie Raitt, Jefferson Airplane, The Chambers BrothersMountainThe Rolling StonesJoe CockerTrafficEric Clapton, and more throughout the evening. Proceeds from the show benefitted HeadCount, a non-partisan advocacy organization that stages voter registration drives at more than 1,000 live events each year and collaborates with cultural leaders to promote civic engagement on a national scale.
