Tony Trischka shared two holiday recordings, “The Christmas Medley” and original “Christmas Night.” The recordings heralded the 25th anniversary of the banjo great’s annual Of A Winter’s Night – A Holiday Celebration Tour which sees Tony in Boston tonight.
The new holiday tunes follow a Chritsmas song Trischka put out last year, “Christmas Cheer (This Weary Year)” which appeared on his 2021 album Shall We Hope. Tony is joined on “The Christmas Medley” and “Christmas Night” by Phoebe Hunt (vocals, fiddle), Brittany Haas (fiddle), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Todd Philips (bass) and Sean Trischka (drums).
“The Christmas Medley” features three traditional Christmas carols bluegrass style including “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” “Joy To The World” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Tony said in a press release that the single “Christmas Night,” “brought me right back to my childhood and how our Christmas tree was unique in the neighborhood.”
