Umphrey’s McGee Cancels New Year’s Run & New York City Concerts Due To COVID-19

159

Umphrey’s McGee canceled both their upcoming three-night New Year’s Run in Miami Beach, Florida and January 2022 two-night stand in New York City. The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases spike amid the spread of the Omicron variant.

The New Year’s Run was supposed to be held at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater December 30, December 31 (New Year’s Eve) and January 1 (New Year’s Day). Umphrey’s McGee was then due to play NYC’s Terminal 5 on January 14 and 15. Tickets will be automatically refunded at the point of purchase.

Read a note from Umphrey’s McGee regarding the decision:

It is with perpetual frustration and utter disappointment that we announce the cancellation of our upcoming Miami and New York shows. There is nothing we’d rather be doing to ring in the new year than playing for you. But reality continues to bite.

Rapidly spiking case counts across the country are making large indoor gatherings riskier, even more so as people gather for the holidays and increase travel. The complexities of this virus, the logistics of event production, and the increasing difficulties of access to timely testing (for band/crew, venue staff, and fans for entry) remain an unending battle.

As a growing circle of family, friends and peers continue to contract the virus, UM and our promoters are in agreement that pulling off safe, responsible, and successful events is not realistic.

We’re incredibly grateful and truly sorry. It sucks.

100% of tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase, including all umVIP packages and headphones purchases.

We appreciate each and everyone of you and wish you a safe holiday. Until we ride again…onward & upward.
