Warren Haynes played a solo set for the Paste Studio “On The Road” series at Pamnation HQ in New York City. Haynes performed several songs from Gov’t Mule’s recently released blues album, Heavy Load Blues.
The solo session saw Haynes playing electric guitar and being interviewed between songs. The set kicked off with Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City,” which was covered by Mule on Heavy Load Bluies. Haynes then played “If Heartaches Were Nickels,” which he wrote and had been recorded by others including Joe Bonamassa, but had not been tracked by Gov’t Mule before its appearance on the new record. Next was the album’s opening song, Elmore James’ “Blues Before Sunrise.”
Haynes ended his session with “Old Friend,” a song he wrote and originally played during his time as a member of The Allman Brothers Band. Watch the full performance below:
