A new posthumous video for George Harrison‘s “My Sweet Lord” features an impressive array of musicians, comedians, actors and more. The first-ever visual for the song from the late musician’s iconic All Things Must Pass album comes in honor of recently released 50th anniversary reissues of the record.
Harrison’s Beatle bandmate Ringo Starr appears in the clip as does his Traveling Wilburys collaborator Jeff Lynne. Others featured in the “My Sweet Lord” video include its stars Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer along with Jon Hamm, Joe Walsh, Rosanna Arquette, Reggie Watts, Natasha Leggero and more.
The visual also features Harrison’s widow, Olivia Harrison and the pair’s son, Dhani Harrison. Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine served as executive producers for the “My Sweet Lord” video which was directed by Lester Bangs.
“Making this was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” explained Bangs in a press release. “The approach was to represent the song visually while these agents and inspectors kept missing the metaphysical wonder around them. Images are choreographed to the sounds of vocal melodies, guitar strums, drum patterns, chord changes. George threaded a sense of humor through all of his videos, so we kept that spirit and filled the cast with friends and admirers of his music, many coming from the current comedy landscape.”
