Fugees Cancel Reunion Tour Due To COVID-19

96

Fugees canceled their reunion tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 1996 album The Score. The band cited the continuing COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the decision.

“We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” wrote Fugees in an announcement on social media. “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.”

Today’s announcement came after the trio — consisting of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel — previously postponed the tour to early 2022 last fall. “An idea sparked to honor and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work,” continued the note from Fugees. “If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon,” added the band. “THANK YOU For all your love and support throughout the years.”

Fugees did reunite on September 22, 2021 for a concert in New York City. The group performed seven songs backed by a full band and horn section at their first show in 15 years.
