Kikagaku Moyo Announces Breakup & Final Tour Dates

67

Tokyo-based Kikagaku Moyo will part ways after 2022. The band will first release a new album this May and embark on tours this spring and fall.

“After much discussion between the five of us at the end of last year, we have decided to go on an indefinite hiatus after 2022,” wrote the psychedelic rockers in a note announcing the decision. “This means 2022 will be our last year as Kikagaku Moyo.”

“We have come to the conclusion that because we have truly achieved our core mission as a band, we would love to end this project on the highest note possible,” added Kikagaku Moyo. “Since first starting as a music collective on the streets of Tokyo in 2012, we never, ever imagined being able to play all over the world for our amazing audiences. It is all because of you that this was ever possible…and to this we are eternally grateful.”

The quintet will start their spring tour at Lee’s Palace in Toronto on May 11. From there the band will perform in Montreal on May 12, Winooski (Vermont) on May 13, Boston on May 14, Brooklyn on May 17, Philadelphia on May 18, Asheville on May 19, Atlanta on May 20, Nashville on May 21, Madison on May 23, Chicago on May 24 and Detroit on May 25 before ending the run with an appearance at BottleRock Napa on May 27. Kikagaku Moyo heads to Europe and the UK in June for concerts in France, Norway, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and England.

A fall tour of the West Coast will be announced next week. Tickets for Kikagaku Moyo’s Spring Tour 2022 go on sale this Friday, January 21.
