The Avett Brothers Dust Off ‘Offering’ & Welcome David Childers In Mexico

The Avett Brothers closed out their At The Beach 2022 destination event in Riviera Maya, Mexico on Sunday. The group performed A Carolina Jubilee gem “Offering” for the first time in over five years during last night’s show at the Hard Rock Hotel and were joined by David Childers for one of his songs.

Scott Avett and Seth Avett led their band through “Shame” to kick off their third and final At The Beach 2022 concert last night. The Avetts stuck with material from 2007’s Emotionalism by following with “Die Die Die.” Live staple “Ain’t No Man” came next along with rarities “Pretty Girl At The Airport” and “Denouncing November Blue.” From there the group delivered their first cover of the traditional “It’s Me (Standing In The Need Of Prayer)” since 2018 as per db.nov.blue before Scott went solo for “The Greatest Sum” and “Murder In The City.”

David Childers emerged later in the set to lead The Avett Brothers through “The Prettiest Thing.” Childers originally recorded “The Prettiest Thing,” which The Avetts have been covering since 2010, with The Modern Don Juans. The 24-song main set continued on sans Childers with such fan favorites as “Talk On Indolence,” “Head Full Of Doubt/Road Full Of Promise” and “I And Love And You.”

The Avett Brothers delivered their first “Offering” since July 29, 2016 to start Sunday’s encore. “Nothing Short Of Thankful” and “No Hard Feelings” brought the encore and destination event to an end.
