The Infamous Stringdusters’ Andy Falco Joins Greensky Bluegrass In Portland

74

Greensky Bluegrass teamed with guitarist Andy Falco from support act The Infamous Stringdusters to close their second set on Thursday in Portland, Maine. The guest spot at the State Theatre came as part of yet another originals-only show from GSBG.

Emotion-laden staple “The Four” opened last night’s first Greensky Bluegrass set and led into “Grow Together.” The latter was one of seven songs from the band’s week-old Stress Dreams LP played in Portland. Tender oldie “Nine Days” came next along with the Dave Bruzza-sung numbers “Out & Under” and “Like Reflections.” Paul Hoffman then stepped into the spotlight for “Burn Them.” From there GSBG dug deep into their repertoire for the first versions of “Indian Trail” and “Depot Bay” since February of 2019. The Anders Beck and Chris Gelbuda Stress Dreams co-write “Monument” closed out the set.

Greensky Bluegrass delivered a well-jammed “Stress Dreams” to launch their second set in Portland. The band then went the more traditional route with straight bluegrass original “The Radio Blues” and took it down a notch with gorgeous Stress Dreams standout “Streetlight.” Next up was the reggae-tinged “Who Is Frederico?” and Stress Dreams pair “Give A Shit” and “Reasons To Stay.”

Andy Falco came out after the ensuing “Old Barns” for “Broke Mountain Breakdown” and “Worry For You.” Greensky has been joined by a different member of The Infamous Stringdusters at each of their last four shows as Chris Pandolfi sat-in in Philadelphia, Jeremy Garrett lent a hand in Port Chester and Andy Hall helped out in Burlington. Falco’s guest appearance saw the guitarist engage in “Broke Mountain Breakdown” call-and-response and take a memorable “Worry For You” solo. The Infamous Stringdusters bassist Travis Book is the only member who has yet to perform with Greensky on this tour. Last night’s show concluded with a “Past My Prime” encore.

Greensky Bluegrass and The Infamous Stringdusters bring the run to Boston for a show at the House Of Blues tonight. Saturday’s performance at the venue has been canceled due to a snow emergency. Watch fan-shot video footage from last night’s concert below:
