The War On Drugs postponed concerts originally scheduled for tonight (Monday, January 24) in Philadelphia and tomorrow (Tuesday, January 25) in Atlanta after a member of the band’s touring party tested positive for COVID-19. As for now The War On Drugs expect to resume the tour this Thursday, January 27 in Philadelphia.
On the road in support of their 2021 album I Don’t Live Here Anymore, The War On Drugs launched the extensive world tour last Wednesday in Austin. The band led by Adam Granduciel was able to pull off a two-night stand in Austin and additional Texas stops in Irving and Houston before the positive test result led to a halt in the excursion.
“With our long-awaited tour finally underway, we are heartbroken to share a member of our touring party has tested positive for COVID-19,” wrote The War On Drugs in an announcement on social feeds. “With so much of the tour on the horizon, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the shows in Nashville and Atlanta, in order to take the safest approach for everyone. If everyone remains negative and healthy, we will continue the tour in Philly on Jan. 27th.”
Ticketholders are urged to “keep an eye out for an email from your local promoter for more information.” New dates for the postponed shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and The Tabernacle in Atlanta are in the works and will be announced “as soon as possible.” The War On Drugs’ upcoming concerts at The Met Philadelphia on January 27 and 28 are hometown shows for the band.
