Vic Mensa Arrested At Dulles International Airport On Felony Drug Charges

Hip-hop artist Vic Mensa was arrested on felony drug charges at Dulles International Airport in Dulles, VA on Saturday after returning home to the U.S. from a trip to Ghana. A press release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) office confirmed that airport officials found a cache of LSD and Psilocybin in the rapper’s luggage.

Mensa (real name Victor Kwesi Mensah) arrived in the U.S. on Saturday at 7 a.m. after spending the past few weeks in the Western African country with fellow hip-hop artist Chance The Rapper. During the trip, which the two documented extensively on their respective social media pages, Mensa and Chance met with Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Upon landing back in the U.S., CBP officials found 41 grams of liquid LSD, about 124 grams of Psilocybin capsules, 178 grams of Psilocybin gummies, and six grams of Psilocybin mushrooms concealed in Mensa’s luggage.

“Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) Police officers responded and charged Mensah with felony narcotics possession charges. MWAA Police officers took custody of Mensah and the illicit narcotics,” said the CBP in a press release. “Despite some states decriminalizing certain personal quantities of illicit narcotics, travelers should be aware that narcotics possession remains illegal under federal law.”

Added Area Port Director for CBP’s Area Port of Washington, D.C., “Narcotics interdiction remains a Customs and Border Protection enforcement priority and we remain committed to working closely with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to ensure that those who transport illegal narcotics into the United States are investigated and prosecuted.”

A spokesperson for Mensa had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment at press time.
