Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros delivered an official live document on Friday with Live In Colorado. Out now via Third Man Records, the eight-track live album sports highlights from the Grateful Dead singer/guitarist’s four shows across the Centennial State last summer.

Weir’s shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison (June 8th–9th) and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail (June 11th–12th) marked his first in-person concerts since the pandemic began. They also featured the live debut of The Wolf Pack, a string section consisting of Alex Kelly (cello), Brian Switzer (trumpet), Adam Theis (trombone), Mads Tolling (violin), and Sheldon Brown (woodwinds), as well as pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz. These musicians joined Bobby’s Wolf Bros Don Was (bass), Jay Lane (drums), and recent addition Jeff Chimenti (keys) who serves alongside Weir in Dead & Company.

In addition to signaling Weir’s return to in-person concerts, his Red Rocks run was historic as it marked his first “Terrapin Station” suite performance with Wolf Bros. The ensemble spaced the entire movement across the two nights, with “Lady With A Fan” and “Terrapin Station” coming on night one and “Terrapin Transit”, “At A Siding”, “Terrapin Flyer”, and “Refrain” coming on night two. Audiences in Vail witnessed the entire movement front-to-back during the second set of the band’s Colorado closer. Unfortunately, none of the pieces of “Terrapin Station” made the cut onto Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live In Colorado.

“I’ve been workin’ in my spare time on expanding the sonic coloration of the songs I do,” Weir said upon the album’s announcement. “The Wolfpack is basically a step toward full orchestration – and further, I gotta say, these guys are game. We worked on the arrangements a bit but eventually we needed to trot it all out and play it for folks – and right at that moment, the folks in Colorado reached out and told us they were gonna open up. Holy Shit, WTF? Let’s Go.”

In other Bob Weir news, the guitarist announced a pair of benefit concerts at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA on February 27th and 28th. Sunday’s show will benefit Robin Sylvester, the longtime RatDog bassist currently awaiting a kidney transplant. The following night’s show will honor Rob Lawson, Bobby’s close friend and longtime driver who passed away on November 1st. A ticket lottery is now open through Friday at 12 p.m. ET.
