Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi sat in with Phil Lesh & Friends on this date in 2001. The powerhouse appearance went down 21 years ago and featured Grateful Dead classics and more.

On February 10, 2001 Phil Lesh brought “The Quintet” to The Fillmore Denver. The lineup consisted of guitarists Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring, keyboardist Rob Barraco and drummer John Molo joining the Grateful Dead bassist.

Phil would welcome Derek to kick off the night with an expansive “Bird Song” which flowed into “The Eleven.” Trucks was also on hand for a cover of Derek and The Dominos’ “Keep On Growing,” which was a Phil & Friends debut, and headed into “Built To Last.” Next up came Dave Mason’s Traffic classic “Dear Mr. Fantasy” ahead of a “Doin’ That Rag” first set closer.

Lesh and got the second set underway with Tedeschi sharing vocals with Warren Haynes on “Turn On Your Love Light” which headed into “Mountains On The Moon” sans Susan. Haynes then channeled Brent Mydland on “Just A Little Light.” The Phil Lesh Quintet took on Miles Davis’ “Milestones” next and segued into Warren’s “Patchwork Quilt.” The set came to a close with a sequence of “St. Stephen,” complete with a foray into “Mountain Jam” and “The Golden Road To Unlimited Devotion.”

Phil would return to give his donor rap before closing out with Bob Dylan’s “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues.” Listen to the full show below:
