Goose Debuts Great Blue Song ‘Jeff Engborg’ In Seattle

125

Goose concluded the West Coast portion of their 2022 winter tour at the Neptune Theater in Seattle on Saturday. The concert saw Goose playing the Great Blue tune, “Jeff Engborg,” for the first time and a number of songs at the Neptune referenced the ocean or water.

The show commenced with “Butter Rum” followed by “Your Ocean” before the band embarked on a 17-minute excursion of the funky favorite, “Hot Tea.” New song “Borne,” which Goose recently released as a single and debuted in Los Angeles, contained “Also Sprach Zarathustra” teases during the 19-minute outing. After “Honeybee” — which saw road manager Jon “Coach” Lombardi adding his signature rainstick — the quintet brought the first to a close with their cover of the Fat Freddy’s Drop number “Fish In The Sea.”

Goose kicked off the second set with a 12 minute “Yeti” ahead of an unfinished “Into The Myst.” The band then set sail on a 15-minute “The Old Man’s Boat” followed by the unveiling of Great Blue tune “Jeff Engborg,” named after the song’s composer. Great Blue is the previous band of Goose keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach who still perform on occasion. “Jeff Engborg” flowed into a “Mini Mall Jam,” last played during Goose’s virtual Bingo Tour in June 2020.

The “Seekers On The Ridge” duology followed ahead of set two closer, “The Empress Of Organos,” which clocked in at 18 minutes. Anspach would give a shoutout to the Goose crew when the group returned to the stage for the encore. The quintet then offered The Band’s “Don’t Do It” to cap of the evening.
