LP Giobbi Announces ‘Dead House’ Livestream To Benefit Rex Foundation

101

EDM star LP Giobbi will present a “Dead House” livestream set inspired by the music of the Grateful Dead later this month with all donations received going towards the Rex Foundation. LP’s performance premieres on The Relix Channel on Twitch next Saturday, February 19 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The Austin, Texas-based piano house musician was supposed to perform at Dead & Company’s Playing In The Sand destination events last month which were canceled due to the pandemic. LP Giobbi had already put together a set that weaved in over 50 edits featuring the music of the Grateful Dead based on stems she was given. While she didn’t get the opportunity to display her talents at Playing In The Sand for a community that helped inspire her love of live music, LP will finally have a chance to show off the resulting set for Deadheads on the 19th.

“I am a Deadhead kid who was raised by Deadheads and have inherited their collection of Grateful Dead t-shirts which is the only thing I wear when I DJ. During the pandemic I started streaming consistently and regularly which forced me to dive deeper into DJing,” LP Giobbi stated in a press release. “I started looping piano parts and bass parts and drum loops and throwing acapellas over all of it and I realized I was acting almost like a one woman Jam band but with electronic sounds and DJ gear. It became very full circle when I got my hands on some Grateful Dead stems and started live remixing their tracks as house tracks. It’s been a wild journey exploring house music in this way!”

“Dead House” viewers can expect a two-hour rooted in house music with reworked Grateful Dead songs mixed in. LP Giobbi will incorporate re-warped and occasionally re-pitched GD guitar and vocal stems on top of house beats in a fashion jam fans can appreciate.
