Sigur Ros, who are currently prepping the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Kveikur, will embark on an extensive tour of North America this spring. Dates announced today span April 30 to June 18 with former member Kjartan Sveinsson back in the fold with Jónsi and Georg Holm after nearly a decade of focusing on other projects.
The upcoming run marks the Icelandic band’s first tour in nearly five years. Sigur Rós kicks off the jaunt in Mexico and then plays the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver on May 9. Next come additional West Coast dates in Portland (Oregon) on May 11, Seattle on May 13, Palo Alto (California) on May 17 and Los Angeles on May 19. A two-night stand in Austin, Texas follows on May 23 and 24.
Sigur Rós’ tour continues in Dallas on May 25, Atlanta on May 27, Nashville on May 28 and Minneapolis on May 31. From there the band will make stops in Milwaukee on June 1, Detroit on June 3, Chicago on June 4, Washington D.C. on June 6, Philadelphia on June 7, Boston on June 8, Montreal on June 10 and Toronto on June 11. Sigur Rós are currently set to conclude the excursion in New York City with shows at Kings Theatre on June 14 and at The Beacon Theatre on June 17 and 18.
Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 25 at 10 a.m. local time.
