Tank and the Bangas released a new single, “Stolen Fruit.” The song, arriving in honor of Black History Month, is set to appear on the New Orleans-based group’s forthcoming album, Red Balloon.
Tank And The Bangas announced Red Balloon in late January and shared lead single “No ID.” The group led by Tarriona “Tank” Ball followed with “Black Folk” earlier this month and now “Stolen Fruit.”
“‘Stolen Fruit’ is basically about the slave trade,” Ball said. “There’s ‘Strange Fruit,’ and I call this one ‘Stolen Fruit,’ because not only were the fruit strange, but they were also stolen. They weren’t from here.”
