Train announced a new album, AM Gold, set for release on May 20, 2022 via Columbia Records. The rockers shared the title track to the new LP as well as 2022 tour dates with Jewel, Blues Traveler and more.
AM Gold is Train’s first new album of original music in five years since the release of 2017’s A Girl, A Bottle, A Boat. Frontman Pat Monahan detailed recording the new LP throughout the pandemic.
Writing songs is hard. Not compared to so many things I suppose, but it’s difficult to create something that you love and then other people love as well. Writing songs for two and a half years in front of video screens instead of being in the presence of other humans has been a long, strange trip. And now here we are. It has to start with love. Love that goes into work comes out of work. We love this song, this album, and our fans. Thank you for waiting so long for us. I think it was worth it. AM Gold! Here we go!
Jewel and Blues Traveler — along with Thunderstorm Artis and Will Anderson on select dates — will support Train on their Save Me San Francisco Wine Co Presents: Train – AM Gold Tour which kicks off on June 8 in Mansfield Massachusetts. Following stops in New York State and New Jersey, the band will head through Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The tour will then hit Nashville on June 21 ahead of a swing through Florida.
Additional dates include Atalanta, Charlotte, Toronto, St. Louis, Dallas, Phoenix, San Diego and the Los Angeles and Bay Areas among others. Following engagements in Seattle and Bend, Oregon, the AM Gold Tour wraps up at Red Rocks (sans Blues Traveler) on August 6.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 25 at 10 a.m. local time.
