Watch Jimmy Fallon Cover Grateful Dead With Stolen Faces At Brooklyn Bowl Nashville

The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon made a surprise appearance at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville last night. Fallon handled lead vocal duties in fronting Grateful Dead tribute act The Stolen Faces on covers of “Tennessee Jed” and “They Love Each Other.”

Jimmy’s guest spot came during The Stolen Faces’ second set as per Relix.com’s report. “We’ve got a special guest about to join us on stage, I think. Our new buddy, Jimmy Fallon,” bassist Christian Grizzard told the crowd in introducing the comedian. Out strolled Fallon wearing a long-sleeve tie-dye shirt.

Fallon first led “Tennessee Jed,” using an iPad to help with the lyrics of the geographically-appropriate Hunter/Garcia classic. “This is my favorite verse ’cause it shows that the Grateful Dead were funny, and that’s exactly what the point of all this is,” Jimmy told the crowd before the “I run into Charlie Fog” verse. The host went on to swap in “Jimmy Fallon” for “me” in the “My doggie turned to me and he said” line.

Thursday wasn’t the New York resident’s first time joining a Grateful Dead cover band. Fallon previously was Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s guest at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York back in February of 2020. However, he didn’t sing any Dead tunes that night as he joined for a wild take on Neil Young’s “Fuckin’ Up” that incorporated “Born To Run” and “Hey Jude.”
