Band of Horses Performs ‘Crutch’ On ‘Fallon’

63

Band of Horses served as the musical guest on Thursday’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon episode. The group led by frontman Ben Bridwell performed “Crutch” from their new album, Things Are Great.

Things Are Great arrived today via BMG. Band Of Horses also released a video for the album’s “Warning Signs” directed by Ben Fee. The long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Why Are You OK saw Bridwell produce or co-produce each of the LP’s 10 tracks with assistance from frequent collaborators Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Dave Fridmann and Dave Sardy.

Band Of Horses will soon embark on a European Tour in support of Things Are Great. The group — which consists of Bridwell, bassist Matt Gentling, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Monroe, guitarist Ian MacDougall and drummer Creighton Barrett — will hit the road with The Black Keys for the Dropout Boogie Tour between July 9 and October 18.

Ben Bridwell shared the following regarding “Crutch” when the single was issued:

I think like a lot of my songs, “Crutch” starts with something from my real life. Obviously “Crutch” means some of the things that I was dependent on. My relationship for one. I think I wanted to say, “I’ve got a crush on you,” and I thought it was funny how relationships also feel like crutches. I feel like everybody has had a time when nothing goes right and you still have to carry on. I think that feeling hits you in this song even if you don’t know what the specifics are.
