Bonnie Raitt released a new single, “Something’s Got A Hold Of My Heart.” The song penned by Al Anderson is set to land on Raitt’s upcoming album, Just Like That…, due out on April 22 through ADA/Sub Pop.
Bonnie announced Just Like That… in February, her first studio LP since 2016’s Dig In Deep. Raitt also shared the lead single “Made Up Mind” and now follows with “Something’s Got A Hold Of My Heart,” written by former NRBQ guitarist Al Anderson.
Many of the tunes on Just Like That… are songs Bonnie has been looking to record for some time. Pertaining to “Something’s Got A Hold Of My Heart,” Raitt’s website noted that she “had been carrying around [the song] for almost three decades.”
“Al had given up asking if I was going to cut it,” Bonnie joked. Raitt did indeed cut the tune, providing her instantly recognizable vocals and signature slide guitar, along with bass from James “Hutch” Hutchinson, Ricky Fataar on drums, electric piano by Glenn Patscha and guitar from Kenny Greenberg.
