Ghost Light confirmed a change to the band’s lineup. Former Turkuaz member Taylor Shell has replaced Dan Africano on bass. Africano joined Ghost Light in 2019 following the departure of original bassist Steve Lyons and now has parted ways with the group himself.

“We’re beyond excited to welcome Taylor Shell to the band as our new bassist,” wrote Ghost Light in announcing the news on social media. “We are loving the energy he’s bringing to the songs and know that you’ll love him as much as we do. We wish Dan Africano all the best in his future musical adventures and our neverending thanks for his contributions to the music, the great hangs, and fantastic cat content!”

Shell is part of a Ghost Light lineup that also includes guitarists Tom Hamilton and Raina Mullen, keyboardist Holly Bowling and drummer Scotty Zwang. Taylor Shell co-founded Turkuaz with Dave Brandwein. The other seven members of the group departed Turkuaz suddenly last fall. Read a note from Shell shared on Instagram below:

“Well the internet, after a long and tumultuous few months for me personally, I have some very exciting news! I will be joining one of my favorite bands in the whole wide world, Ghost Light! My long time friend, bass brother, and all around amazing human Dan Africano is moving on and I was so thrilled to be asked to join this incredible group of musicians and people. I couldn’t be more excited for this next phase of my life! Thank you to Tom, Holly, Raina, and Scotty for welcoming me into their wild and beautiful musical adventure. Be kind to each other friends, and we’ll see you out on the road.”

The new Ghost Light lineup will play its first show together on March 25 in West Hollywood, California to kick off a spring tour that runs through April 9. “Keeping our eye on the future, we have all kinds of new material in store for this tour,” added the band.
