Pimps Of Joytime released a new single, “Reachin’ Up,’ featuring AntibalasMarcus Farrar. “Reachin’ Up” is set to land on the funk and soul collective’s forthcoming album of the same name, due out on April 15 through Regime Music Group.

Pimps Of Joytime heralded Reachin Up, their first studio album in more than four years, in Fall 2021 with the single “Lesson.” The group led by Grammy-nominated producer and musician Brian J followed with “Are You Gonna?” in February and now share the LP’s title track featuring Antibalas’ shekere player and vocalist Marcus Farrar, New Mastersounds bassist Pete Shand and Si*Sé singer Carol C, the latter now a permanent member of PJT.

Brain J detailed “Reachin’ Up” in a press release:

“Reachin’ Up” originated from a batch of instrumentals I created in a two-week studio bender in 2019. I hit up old friend and early PJT collaborator Marcus Farrar to come work on one of the tracks. Marcus pretty quickly came up with great melody and lyric ideas. I had the lyric ‘Reachin’ Up’ kickin’ around for a few years and it fit perfectly. I hit record and Marcus did his thing with a stellar vocal performance. Carol C of Si*Sé and Pete Shand of New Mastersounds were the missing puzzle pieces who graced this track with an incredible vibe.
