Superorganism are back with their first new music in four years. The single, ‘Teenager’, is the first taste of the band’s upcoming second album, World Wide Pop. The album is due out on Friday, 15th July via the Domino Recording Company.
The band has shed a couple of members since releasing its debut album in 2018. The Superorganism lineup now consists of lead vocalist, Orono, alongside Harry, Tucan, B and Soul. World Wide Pop features guest contributions from Stephen Malkmus (Pavement), Dylan Cartlidge, Boa Constrictors and Gen Hoshino, as well as CHAI and Pi Ja Ma, who appear on ‘Teenager’.
The ‘Teenager’ music video stars Will & Grace actor Brian Jordan Alvarez. Watch it below.
Superorganism first made a splash in 2017 with the singles ‘Something for Your M.I.N.D.’, ‘It’s All Good’ and ‘Nobody Cares’. All three tracks appeared on the band’s debut album, Superorganism, alongside later singles, ‘Everybody Wants to Be Famous’, ‘Reflections On a Screen’ and ‘The Prawn Song’.
In 2019, allegations against band member Emily (Mark Turner) from 2012 were brought to light. According to Stuff, two women alleged inappropriate behaviour by Turner. Turner is no longer a member of Superorganism.
