The Avett Brothers Welcome David Childers In Greensboro

80

The Avett Brothers brought out David Childers during their concert Saturday night at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. The North Carolina native musicians teamed up on Childers’ song, “The Prettiest Thing.”

The Avett Brothers have been covering “The Prettiest Thing” since 2011, performing it regularly over the years. Childers, who opened the show, has collaborated with the members of The Avett Brothers on several occasions. Originally scheduled for December 31, 2021, last evening’s makeup show was a fitting occasion for the collaborative “The Prettiest Thing,” whose lyrics begin “It was a New Year’s Day at a seaside bar.”

The sit-in was the 19th song of a 27-song main set and the encore was made up of another three songs. “The Ballad of Love and Hate” was performed solo by guitarist Seth Avett. The guest spot was trailed by a segment featuring Seth Avett, banjoist Scott Avett and bassist Bob Crawford for stripped-down arrangements of “I Wish I Was” and “Backwards With Time.”
