Tim Palmieri Guests With Twiddle At Brooklyn Bowl Finale

Twiddle wrapped up a three-night run at Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday. The quartet welcomed Lotus guitarist Tim Palmieri during the second set for a Beatles classic as well as a Twiddle original.

Twiddle launched the concert with drummer Adrian Tramontano — who has been playing with the band the past few weeks — and bassist Zdenek Gubb going toe to toe on a bass and drum off. The rhythm section then embarked on a groove before keyboardist Ryan Dempsey and guitarist Mihali Savoulidis joined in as the band jammed their way into the relatively new instrumental “Stroganoff,” which they debuted late last year.

A pairing of “River Drift” and the “Glycerine Medley” followed. The latter is a reggae mashup of Bush’s “Glycerine,” Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry,” Bob Dylan and Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” and Phish’s “Farmhouse” ahead of a return to “Glycerine.” All four songs feature the same chord progression. “Dr. Remidi’s Melodium” came next ahead of “Frends Theme.” Twiddle closed out the first frame with their new single, “The Devil.”

The second set commenced with a pairing of classics “Beethoven and Greene” and “Frankenfoote,” which together stretched to nearly 30 minutes. Twiddle then welcomed newly minted Lotus guitarist — and Tramontano’s Kung Fu bandmate — Tim Palmieri for a cover of The Beatles’ “Rocky Raccoon” which led into the original, “Milk,” also featuring Tim on guitar. The quartet would go it alone for Tom Petty’s “You Don’t Know How It Feels” ahead of a “Dinner Fork” second set closer. Twiddle returned to encore with the classic “Hattibagen McRat.”
