Renowned keyboardist Cory Henry has announced a 2022 world tour with stops at Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Summer Camp Music Festival, and more. The announcement is accompanied by the release of a funky new single, “The Fool”, which salutes soul visionaries such as Stevie Wonder and Prince.
Cory Henry had his “best year yet” in 2021, resulting in four nominations at the 2022 Grammy Awards. In addition to his album Something to Say, which was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album, the prolific collaborator was nominated for his contributions as a co-producer/writer on Ye’s Donda, which was nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album, and Eric Bellinger’s New Light, nominated in the Best Progressive R&B Album category. Although he didn’t take home any awards, he has already won three Grammys as a member of progressive jazz collective Snarky Puppy.
In his new single, “The Fool”, Henry breaks new musical ground while paying homage to the legacy of the greats who came before him. The track epitomizes his “future soul” sound, with funky, staccato bass and guitar playing, a high-energy, tempo-pushing drum beat, and expressive explorations on the keyboard. The song is now available on all streaming platforms.
The keyboard virtuoso, producer, and multi-instrumentalist will embark on a world tour starting April 13th in Australia. He will headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney and make an appearance at the famous Byron Bay Bluesfest. In May, he’ll return to the States to perform at Beale Street Music Festival and Ground Up Music Festival and then head to Japan for a run of shows at Billboard Live in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka.
Henry will round out the summer with festival performances at Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Madrid’s Noches del Botánico, and shows at Red Rocks, KOKO (London), Amsterdam Bostheater, and Tel Aviv’s Barby.
