Oteil Burbridge‘s Oteil & Friends concerts at the SweetWater 420 Fest in Atlanta today and in New Orleans tomorrow at the Joy Theatre will no longer take place while the bassist attends to a family emergency. Additionally, Oteil will not participate in Voodoo Dead concerts in New Orleans on Saturday and Sunday with George Porter Jr. and Reed Mathis filling his role.
Burbridge has rushed to join his mother after his father’s health has rapidly declined. “Unfortunately, my father, who is 91 years old, has started to cross over,” Oteil wrote in a note posted on his social feeds. “I have to go and be by my mother’s side.” Burbridge went on to announce his Oteil & Friends shows will no longer take place and that the Voodoo Dead performances will go on without him.
