Rihanna has joined the Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List for the first time ever.
The 34-year-old musician and fashion mogul ranks No. 1,729 among billionaires with a net worth of $1.7 billion, thanks to her Fenty Beauty cosmetics and Savage X Fenty lingerie brands. She’s also the first Barbados native to become a billionaire,
Upon declaring Rihanna the world’s richest female musician in 2021, the financial outlet reported that her 50 percent stake in Fenty Beauty, valued conservatively at $2.8 billion, constitutes the bulk of her fortune.
Another estimated $270 million comes from her 30 percent ownership stake in her $1 billion Savage x Fenty lingerie line, while earnings from a decade-spanning career as a chart-topping musician and actress account for the rest of Rhianna’s wealth.
Another celebrity newcomer to the billionaire’s club was Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson (No. 1,929 with $1.5 billion), who sold his stake in his Weta digital effect shop to Unity Software for $975 million.
USA Today notes the wealth of returning billionaires, including Skims proprietor Kim Kardashian (No. 1,645 with $1.8 billion) and her ex-husband, rapper Kanye West (No. 1,513 with $2 billion). Director Steven Spielberg (No. 901 with a $3.7 billion), rapper Jay-Z (No. 2,076 with $1.3 billion), and talk show host Oprah Winfrey (No. 1,196 with $2.6 billion) also appear.
Leading the list is Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who was named the world’s wealthiest person in 2021. His net worth has dropped from $230 billion to $219 billion since.
