Dave Matthews Band Offers Tour Debuts In Atlanta

61

Dave Matthews Band stopped by Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta on Saturday. DMB delivered a handful of tour debuts in the ATL including “Sweet Up And Down” and more.

Dave Matthews Band launched the show with “You Might Die Trying” followed by the relatively new tune “Madman’s Eyes,” debuted last fall. “When The World Ends” then proceeded the tour debut of “Proudest Monkey,” which contained elements of “Grazing in the Grass” by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela and “Jamaican Farewell” by Irving Burgie. “Proudest Monkey” then headed into another old school favorite, “Satellite.” “Can’t Stop” and “The Dreaming Tree,” the latter with a “Chocolate Rain” tease, followed ahead of “Dancing Nancies.”

“Sweet Up And Down” then made its first appearance of 2022. DMB unveiled the unreleased song during their 2000 summer tour. Next, Matthews and company delivered the tour debut of “Stay Or Leave,” a number from around the same era as “Sweet Up And Down” which made it onto Dave’s 2003 debut (and only) solo album Some Devil.

Bassist Stefan Lessard then slid the band into the classic “Crush” ahead of another recently debuted song, “The Only Thing,” which premiered last summer. The final tour debut of the evening came in the form of “Again And Again” off DMB’s latest studio album, 2018’s Come Tomorrow. The vintage “Two Step” came next and included a “Time Bomb” into.

After “The Space Between,” DMB floated into “Jimi Thing,” which saw the band teasing Sly & The Family Stone’s “I Want To Take You Higher.” “What Would You Say” and “You & Me” then prefaced the classic closer “Ants Marching,” featuring a drum solo into from Carter Beauford, to cap off the second set. DMB would return for the encore, delivering “Time Bomb” in full, a song DMB busted out at their previous 2022 tour stop in Charlotte. “Warehouse” would bring the evening to a close.
