Diana Ross collaborated with Tame Impala on the Jack Antonoff-produced soundtrack for Minions: The Rise Of Gru, set to arrive on July 1 via Decca. Also contributing music for the movie are Thundercat, St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers and more.

The long-awaited collab between Tame Impala and Diana Ross, “Turn Up The Sunshine,” was rumored to appear on the legendary singer’s 2021 album, Thank You, her first in 15 years since 2006’s I Love You. Instead, the original song is set for the new Minions soundtrack alongside covers of 1970s classics from an impressive list of artists including Thundercat on Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle,” St. Vincent doing Lipps Inc.’s “Funkytown,” Phoebe Bridgers covering The Carpenters’ “Goodbye to Love” and more.

Additional contributions include soundtrack producer Jack Antonoff and his band Bleachers on a cover of John Lennon’s “Instant Karma,” currently on hiatus hip hop group Brockhampton offered Kool & The Gang’s “Hollywood Swinging,” Brittany Howard delivered Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star” featuring EWF’s Verdine White and Gary Clark Jr. covers The Ides Of March’s “Vehicle.” Alongside the original song from Diana Ross and Tame Impala, the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA also offered an original composition, “Kung Fu Suite.”
