Drive-By Truckers hit Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia on Saturday night. The southern rockers welcomed singer-songwriter and opener Lydia Loveless for a Tina Turner classic halfway through their set.
Drive-By Truckers got the show underway with “Slow Ride Argument” from the band’s 2020 album The Unraveling followed by “Santa Fe” from 2010’s The Big To-Do. DBT would lean heavily, however, on two of their albums in particular beginning with “Primer Coat” from the band’s 2014 LP English Oceans. DBT would also perform the record’s “Shit Shots Count,” “Made Up English Oceans” and a “Grand Canyon” closer. Additionally, The Truckers played five songs from their 2003 LP, Decoration Day, beginning with “Heathens” followed by “Sounds Better In The Song” and more.
Following the two Decoration Day cuts, DBT also offered “The Driver” and “Every Single Storied Flameout” from their forthcoming album, Welcome 2 Club XIII arriving on June 3, and also performed the record’s title track. After the favorite “Gravity’s Gone,” DBT welcomed Loveless for Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” a DBT debut as per SetlistFM stats. Lydia fronted the band on the song with guitarist Patterson Hood joining the singer on the last couple choruses. Keyboardist Jay Gonzalez also added some choice organ work on the 1984 Tina Turner hit.
