George Porter Jr Cancels Jazz Fest Performance Due To COVID-19

George Porter Jr. canceled his remaining Jazz Fest appearances due to COVID-19. The legendary New Orleans bassist was scheduled to play the festival today with the funky Meters and also had shows on the books at The Fillmore and Orpheum Theatre tomorrow.

Porter shared that he had tested positive for COVID-19 “about 30 hours ago” in a video he posted earlier today via social media. Although clearly disappointed, George said he felt “better today” than he did yesterday. Watch Porter’s video below:
