The jazz funk supergroup formerly known as Frequinox assembled onstage at Toulouse Theatre (formerly One Eyed Jack’s) in New Orleans, LA Monday for a very special Jazz Fest late-night performance.

Featuring Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr. on sax, Robert Walter (Greyboy Allstars) on organ, Wil Bernard on guitar, Robert Mercurio (Galactic) on bass, and Stanton Moore (Galactic) on drums, Frequinox brings the best of the West Coast’s soul-jazz boogaloo scene together with the best New Orleans has to offer to produce “a Super group so damn funky and exceptional that it would be the cause of an out-and-out, general freak-out for those that witness this sensational group!” according to the band’s Facebook page.

Monday’s Frequinox show followed the first weekend of Jazz Fest, which featured performances from some of music’s biggest names, including Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Who. Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr. performed on the first day of the festival, and Robert Mercurio and Stanton Moore both performed with Galactic on Saturday, while Robert Walter and Will Bernard each appeared at previous late-nights, Walter with Greyboy Allstars and a trio featuring New Orleans drum legend Johnny Vidacovich and bassist James Singleton, and Bernard with John Medeski’s Mad Skillet, Papa Mali + Friends, and James Singleton’s Malabar. The show marked the group’s first performance in over a year.
