Sharon Van Etten Performs ‘Mistakes’ On ‘Colbert’

52

Sharon Van Etten appeared on last night’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for a “Mistakes” performance. The song is featured on Van Etten’s recently released studio album, We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong.

This singer-songwriter took an unusual approach towards putting out We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong, as Van Etten didn’t issue any singles in advance of the album’s arrival. “I wanted to approach this release differently, to engage my fans in an intentional way, in an effort to present the album as a whole body of work,” Van Etten explained. “These 10 songs are designed to be listened to in order, at once, so that a much larger story of hope, loss, longing and resilience can be told.”

Sharon did release a video for “Mistakes” when the album came out earlier this month. The visual directed by Ashley Connor finds Van Etten spending a night in Brooklyn visiting the Drift bar and venue Union Pool.

Van Etten, who will embark on The Wild Hearts Tour with Angel Olsen and Julien Baker this summer, was joined by her backing band and harmony vocalists at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Watch the resulting “Mistakes” performance from last night’s Colbert below:
